TexasSure program raised number of insured drivers

According to Texas government officials The TexasSure program has helped decrease the number of motorists who are on the roadway without auto insurance.

The program began two years ago and uses databases to identify vehicles that appear to lack insurance. It is illegal to drive without insurance in the state of Texas and if  a person is caught, they could face fines up to $350 for first time offenders.

In late 2008 the proportion of  registered vehicles that did not have matching policies went from 24.28 to 21.65 in the summer months of 2010.

Auto insurance in Canada changes rules

Lawmakers in Oklahoma push for cameras to catch uninsured drivers

Georgia sees rise in uninsured drivers as unemployment rates rise

As the unemployment rate in Georgia increases, the number of uninsured drivers also goes up.

Ohio sees 16 percent decrease in complaints against auto insurance

According to the Ohio Department of Insurance, the number of complaints against car insurance companies have decreased by 16 percent from 2009.

In a report released August 2, stated that this year’s decrease comes after a 9 percent decrease from 2008. Despite the economic recession, the number of complaints were dropped in all insurance areas and not just auto insurance.

Complaints have also decreased nationwide in the past two years. The number decreased 3 percent from 2009 and 8 percent from 2008. Car insurance officials say that the decrease in complaints comes from having more tools and information to give to policyholders.
